Well, maybe not a song, but a theme! After a four hour caffeine-fueled binge, I have finally finished a custom theme for this blog.

I’ve actually been working on this for a couple of weeks. I had two others almost ready to go, but they were scrapped for visual appeal reasons. Or just general pickiness on my part. Either way. I’m happy with this one, I think. It might need some tweaking here in the next few days/weeks. We’ll see.

I’d like to find a way to add navigation buttons below and/or above each post. There’s already nav in the “about this post” section, but it’s not super easy to see. I don’t know if it will be worth messing with, but I’d still like to try.

XAMPP was invaluable for this project. Cross platform apache, mysql, php, and perl – awesome tool for theme creation. I’d also like to credit Kyle Neath’s Hemingway theme for providing the inspiration and guts for this. I’m not good with php, so I needed a backbone to get me going. I know mine doesn’t look much different, but you’d be surprised at how much time it takes to change “just a little css”. ;)

p.s. I know it doesn’t look great in 1024×768. Curse of owning a laptop with a widescreen resolution. I’m working on making it scale down better.
